Do you look down on asians that dont speak their ethnic language fluetly?

as a kid I was always treated poorly by older asians for not speaking my ethnic language fluently, they seem to show less respect for you if you cant speak the language fluently or consider you as stupid or dumb because you cant speak the language because your adapted to US and attended english speaking only schools

a old asian told me "Your Good for Nothing" if you dont know how to speak your ethnic language, I also remember my father always treated other asian kids much better than me if they knew how to speak the language and he even gave them money

and treated me like a second class citizen, they think your STUPID if you dont speak it

would you raise your kids that way? or look down on them if they didnt know how to speak the language fluently? I really cant help it because I was raised in a area with very few asians and my parents never taught me
